Typing leaderboard

The fastest runs people have chosen to publish. Taking part is on by default and one click from off, and nothing is published from a device that has turned it off.

Points are what each account reports, within daily limits the server enforces. The speed boards are the ones checked keystroke by keystroke.

Your runs on this board

Your best runs are published under a generated name. We send the time your run took, how many characters were right and wrong, and the gaps between your keystrokes, so the speed can be checked. Nothing else leaves this device.

You are not posting runs. Nothing further from this device goes on the board.

No account needed. Sign in later and this name and your results come with you.

These are unproctored practice results. Every run is checked for plausibility before it is published, but no online leaderboard can prove who typed what, so treat this as friendly competition rather than evidence.

How a run gets on this board

Every submission is checked on the server before it is published, and the number that appears is recomputed there from the keystroke timings rather than taken from the browser. A run whose intervals are too evenly spaced to have come from a person is refused, as are impossible bursts and runs whose stated duration does not match the typing inside it.

None of that makes this proctored. Nobody watched you type and no online leaderboard can prove who was at the keyboard, which is why the results here are described as practice rather than as evidence. What the checks buy is that the ordinary ways of inflating a number do not work.

Taking part is on by default and reversible at any time. You are given a generated name rather than asked for one, you are told on the results page the first time a run of yours is published, and turning it off stops publication without deleting the runs already recorded on your own device.
